At the beginning of the initiative, the IDeA Center convened representatives from over 90 local to participate in a needs assessment workshop to discuss issues that influence the health and quality of in Erie County. Workshop participants represented non-profit organizations, government agencies, local businesses, health care providers, university members, and older adults and caregivers. During the workshop, the AFEC team introduced community stakeholders to AFEC concepts and the mission and vision of the initiative. Additionally, the workshop provided a forum for stakeholders to discuss local issues spanning the ten AFEC domain areas.
Workshop participants gathered in the 10 domain groups to discuss their concerns and the work they are doing in the community. Each group identified a domain leader to facilitate correspondence moving forward and represent the group in future AFEC work.
